Owners are legally responsible for maintaining their buildings and keeping them in a safe condition.
If a building or structure is assessed as being dangerous to the public, we will seek to ensure repairs are carried out and any danger to the public removed. This may require the building or structure to be made safe or demolished.
We will treat any report of a dangerous structure with the urgency that it deserves. All reports of dangerous structures will be investigated within 24 hours.
The legislation giving us the powers to enforce action against dangerous structures refers to any building or structure that could cause damage or injury to a passer-by as a result of its condition or potential collapse.
