The council offers a collection service for large unwanted household items such as furniture or large domestic appliances:
	- up to 3 items can be collected at one time - free of charge
 
	- a maximum of 3 free-of-charge collections will be provided per household per year
 
	- additional collections cost £10 - this is non-refundable and must be paid in advance

Items we collect:
	- mattresses
	Must be kept dry to avoid excessive weight 
	- upholstered furniture
	Must be kept dry to avoid excessive weight 
	- fridge and freezers
	Must be cleaned inside with all drawers/shelving removed and suitably bagged 
	- washing machines
 
	- cookers
	Trays/racks must be removed and suitably bagged 
	- electrical items
 
	- floor coverings (e.g. carpet, vinyl and underfelt)
	Must be rolled or folded and tied (max length 6 feet) 
	- wood
	Where possible it must be bundled and tied with no exposed nails (max length 4 feet) 
	- miscellaneous small items
	Where possible it must be suitably bagged and tied closed 
	- bicycles and scooters
 
	- electric lawnmowers and strimmers
	No petrol lawnmowers or strimmers 
	- BBQs
	Gas canisters removed and grills suitably bagged/bundled 
	- fibreglass insulation
	Must be suitably bagged and tied 
	- metal posts
	No concrete attached (max length 4 feet) 
Items we DO NOT collect:
	- ones that are too big or heavy for two people to move and lift safely into a vehicle, e.g. American style fridges
 
	- ones that are dangerous to lift or could damage a vehicle because of sharp edges
 
	- dangerous waste like asbestos, chemicals or paint stripper
 
	- waste left in your home by building or repair work
 
	- permanent household fixtures e.g. laminated flooring, kitchen worktops, window frames, doors, conservatories, oil boilers, radiators etc. This list is not exhaustive
 
	- garden waste or structures e.g. grass, fencing, greenhouses, sheds or petrol lawn mowers
 
	- tyres, gas canisters, car batteries, parts or engines
 
	- televisions
 
	- fridge-freezers over 6ft
 
	- slide robes
 
	- glass
 
	- pallets
 
	- oil tanks
 
Alternative options:
	- some items can be donated to charity shops or listed on free advert sites
 
	- take to your nearest household recycling centre
 
Collection requirements
	- bulky items should be presented for collection as advised at the time of booking
 
	- items should not be left on the footpath or roadway where they may cause an obstruction
