Guidance for Organisers of Events

In an attempt to reduce the impact of noise from events, organisers should have regard to the following:

Guidance

It is very important event organisers follow our noise guidance to help prevent unreasonable noise levels and complaints arising from neighbouring residential properties.

It includes guideline maximum noise levels at nearest sensitive properties.

The principles of this guidance can be applied to many other types of events.

Neighbour notification

It is good practice to issue written communication to neighbouring residential properties notifying them of events which may give rise to increased noise levels. This should be given in good time prior to the event to allow residents to contact the organiser with queries.

It should also provide residents with details about the following:

  • the nature of the event
  • the date, time and duration of the event
  • the type of noise and/or disruption to be expected
  • a contact telephone number for queries or complaints during the event
